Physiotherapy:
Philadelphia hospital was the first to introduce the concept of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in Ambala, and established its department of Physiotherapy in 2003. Started with the aim of providing musculoskeletal, neurological impairments and rehabilitation in postoperative cases, the department now runs two sessions Monday to Friday - with morning session from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm and evening session from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Fully air-conditioned it provides treatment in a comfortable, clean and calm ambience.
Under the guidance of highly qualified physiotherapists the department provides the following services
1. Rehabilitation of stroke, head injury , spinal cord injury patients (paralysis is major impairment in such cases)
2. Degenerative and rheumatic disease of spine and joints ( arthritis- pain, deformity and movements disorder is the impairment as a result)
3. Rehabilitation in post traumatic case ( fractures, ligament injuries, tendon tears- pain stiffness and muscle weakness resulting from post injury immobilisation is the physical impairment )
4. Rehabilitation for post operative cases (TKR, THR, ORIF in fractures, spinal decompression)
5. Neurological and congenital anomaly in paediatric cases ( cerebral palsy, spina bifida, delayed milestones, muscular dystrophy, perthes disease, CTEV)
6. Rehabilitation of sports injuries and its prevention.
7. Counselling and advice for prevention and treatment for work related health hazards ( neck and lower back pain is common among white collar jobs)
8. Counselling and advice for exercises in weight management, diabetes and hypertension.
